From bold brushstrokes and vibrant colours to delicate washes and dreamy landscapes, the Community Art Show brings together an exciting mix of artistic styles, materials, and techniques. But this time, we’re giving one medium a little extra attention: watercolour!
Join Hongjoo Kim, our Learning & Engagement Coordinator, for a playful and engaging guided tour celebrating the versatility of watercolour painting. Take a closer look at works featured in the Community Art Show, see how artists use water, pigment, and paper to create different effects, and appreciate the many ways this expressive medium can come to life.
Whether you’re an artist yourself or simply curious about how a splash of colour becomes a work of art, there’s something for everyone.
A Little Watercolour History
Watercolour has a history stretching back centuries, from early manuscript illustrations and botanical studies to the expressive paintings we see today. Celebrated for its transparency, fluidity, and sometimes wonderfully unpredictable nature, watercolour became especially popular as an artistic medium during the 18th and 19th centuries.
No art experience needed, just bring your curiosity!
Admission is free. Everyone is welcome.
