Support
How we can help
Whether you’re beginning with a question or looking for something specific, we can help you navigate the collections.
Archives
Spend time with the collection
Visit the Archives to spend time with records, photographs and cultural materials. Make an appointment and our team can help prepare relevant materials for your visit.
Database
Search the database
Search descriptions of records, photographs and cultural materials in our database. Not everything in the collections is available online, so a search is often a starting point.
Search tip
Start with a keyword. Use quotation marks for an exact phrase, AND to combine terms, or Advanced Search to narrow your results.
Research tools
Go deeper with finding aids
Finding aids provide detailed descriptions of archival collections to support your research. Not all our holdings have an online finding aid, so contact us if you need help locating relevant records.
Research
Start with a question
Not sure where to begin? Tell us what you’re researching and our team can help identify relevant records, photographs and cultural materials in the collections.
Donation
Contribute to the collections
Have records, photographs or cultural materials you think belong in the collections? Tell us more about what you have and our team will help you understand the next steps.
Collections
What we hold
Our collections bring together records, photographs and cultural materials that reflect the people, places and experiences of this community.
Archival records
Documents, photographs, maps, audiovisual materials and other records created by people, families and organizations.
Cultural materials
Belongings, artworks and other material connected to everyday life, work, creativity and community.
Reference collection
Books, publications and other resources that provide context for researching local history.
Database
Search the collections database
Search descriptions of records, photographs and cultural materials held in our collections. The database represents only part of what we care for, so if you don’t find what you’re looking for, our team can help.
Start broad
Begin with a simple keyword. Add AND between terms when both must appear.
Search a phrase
Use quotation marks for an exact phrase, such as “Draining Sumas Lake.”
Refine your search
Use Advanced Search to search specific fields, or an asterisk (*) to find variations of a word.
